Whatever happened to the American Dream?

This is a question Hunter Thompson was obsessed with. And thinking about it, what did happen to the American Dream? It clearly isn't dead, as to me that would mean America herself is dead.

But these days, what is it? How do you find it? Is it in making money? Doing drugs? Doing nothing at all?

Or is it an individual goal you set for yourself? My goal for now is to at least participate in the next big Atlanta BJJ competition. Is the American Dream the mere fact that I can pursue this goal?

What did the American Dream used to be? Was it living comfortably? I have no idea. And this, to me, causes difficulty in knowing where, or what, it is today. Perhaps the American Dream is nothing more than a feel good phrase. Who knows? But I certainly want to find out.

The Crowd Mentality

Just something I noticed over a couple of days, watching various sporting events, that struck me as odd.

What compels us to behave in an identical fashion when in a large group?

Such as, a crowd at a UFC event isn't enjoying a fight, so they chant, "BULL SHIT." One person's urge to say this is one thing, but what about everyone nearby?

Or the wave? What on earth gets people to do the wave?

I don't know why this intrigued me, it just did.

Just...wow. Impressive.

Check out something regarding "Bob's Game," a homebrew Nintendo DS game that took over 15,000 hours to do, all done by one individual.

Link to Kotaku.

Allow me to expand. Sadly, once he approached Nintendo, they basically said, "Meh. No thanks." After staging a protest, he gave up, realizing his dream wasn't going to come true.

I, however, want this game. I hope it comes out on Xbox Live's Arcade, because that would be a wonderful place for it.

I feel for this guy. He alone made everything for this game. Think about any game you've played, or movie you saw if you aren't a gamer. Try writing, creating the artwork, programming, testing, making music, everything. By yourself. For over a decade.

Ahahaha, this is awesome.

It's pure advertising but it's so damned cool you can't object to it.

Charlotte Bobcats: Mugging the rest of the NBA left and right.

In what I can only call a mixed feeling, the Bobcats have traded the greatest mustache in the history of basketball (see below,) which belongs to one Adam Morrison to the Lakers.

The best 'stache in basketball.

Coming to the city of Charlotte will be Vladimir Radmonovic. It's an odd trade, considering that Vladimir had a decent spot in the rotation over in LA. Morrison can shoot, but, not a whole lot more. Considered a bit of a bust after being drafted from Gonzaga, but became a fan favorite in Charlotte with that crazy mustache. Well, we'll see what Vladdy can do for us Bobcats.

Speaking of trade rumors, there's word that Phoenix is entertaining offers for Amare Stoudomire. This would be, without a doubt, the most idiotic possible move they could make. If they do offload him, I'd pretty much have to start questioning Steve Kerr's sanity. Don't do it, got it?

R.I.P., and fun new stuff.

My friends, my dear Saitek Eclipse keyboard is no more. A spill of some unknown liquid viciously cut it down in the prime of its life. I shall truly miss it. I certainly do not prefer the keyboard I'm temporarily replacing it with.

Moving on, kudos to the Steelers.

Moving on even further, Fallout 3 is completely choice. Amazing game, with a very big emphasis on your decisions, a morality system second only to the Fable series, in my opinion. If you care to get a great idea of it all, and don't mind a spoiler, check out this article entitled "The Situation at Tenpenny Tower." Truly incredible game put out by Bethesda, the makers of the ever-incredible Elder Scrolls series.
